Ethan Spadino, Spotlight Reporting’s ridiculously charismatic Customer Success Administrator, recently decided that the calls he has with accountants are too good not to share. Having spent the last year connecting with accounting leaders from all walks of life, he's now helping broadcast their invaluable knowledge and expertise.
Introducing Spotcast, a brand-new podcast centered around conversations with accountants.
Ethan intends to talk business with his guests, but Spotcast is about more than getting into the accounting weeds. It’s also about life.
“I want it to be free-flowing; just two people across a (virtual) table having a conversation,” says Ethan. “And it can go off-topic, or even off the rails. But what I’m really interested in is what’s going on in the lives of accountants right now. As we all know, life tends to flow into business.”
A subject of interest for him is how old accounting traditions have started blending into new, creative initiatives—breathing new life into what some consider to be a dull industry.
“Getting the right mix is crucial,” says Ethan. “You need that stability of structure, but also the chaotic, progressive ideas that scare you.”
As an individual, Ethan is all about challenging himself. Spotcast is a way to push himself out of his personal comfort zone, and he’s hoping the conversations he has will motivate others to do the same. It’s background listening, he says, but not unimportant.
Spotcast is about sharing the wealth of knowledge we all contain as individuals, and inspiring each other to get to where we want to be—even if that means making a few mistakes along the way. After all, says Ethan, mistakes are the biggest accelerator of growth.
“So that’s what I’m doing with Spotcast—making a mistake,” he jokes.
