Spotlight Reporting Becomes Major Sponsor of Wellington Women's and Girl's Cricket

Spotlight Reporting today announced their official partnership with Cricket Wellington. The global business intelligence software company is now the major sponsor of all women’s and girl’s cricket in the Wellington region for the next three years, which includes the successful Wellington Blaze, other representative teams as well as developmental programmes supporting the growing number of girls wanting to take up the game.

CEO and co-founder of Spotlight Reporting, Richard Francis, who has a longstanding association with the sport, says Cricket Wellington shares many of the values that are core to Spotlight Reporting – the company that he and his wife Julie founded 10 years ago.

“Empowering individuals and teams to do their best work, nurturing talent, providing pathways and creating the environment for top performance - that’s the Spotlight story and also what Cricket Wellington stands for," he said.

“Women’s and girl’s cricket is going to the next level. The Blaze are a squad that mixes the stars of today with emerging talent, while Cricket Wellington staff also do the mahi all around our region to lift awareness, participation and performance."

General Manager of Cricket Wellington Liz Green is also enthusiastic about the partnership. As a former White Fern and Blaze Captain, she says the aligned values also stand out to her.

“Having a global brand like Spotlight Reporting is fantastic," she says. "They're a company that provides its customers - including some of the biggest business brands - the means to track and improve performance, have courageous conversations and be the best they can be. This aligns so well with Cricket Wellington’s culture and track record of success.”

Spotlight Reporting will become the official naming rights partner for the Wellington Blaze as they take part in this year’s Hallyburton Johnstone Shield one-day competition, as well as the Dream11 Super Smash, where all their games will be broadcasted live on Spark Sport and free to air.

“The Blaze squad are really excited to have Spotlight Reporting on board as our new major sponsor,” said Blaze allrounder Maddy Green. “Cricket Wellington’s support and promotion of the Blaze has been exceptional and with Spotlight Reporting now part of the team we know we can reach new heights.”

Cricket Wellington general manager Liz Green highlighted the importance of the new partnership for the future growth of opportunities for women and girls in cricket in Wellington.

“This is a landmark partnership for women and girls’ cricket here in the Capital,” she said. “We’re really proud of the growth we have seen in the female space over the last three years, and we now want to continue building into a bright future.

“This partnership will be significant regarding our strategic objectives for women and girls in our region, including supporting our clubs with coaching support, provision of umpires for female competitions and further enhancing our Support Women’s Sport initiatives.
